Recommended New Toledo Site

(Toledo, OH) Kate Boyd at Toledo Politicians has created an excellent site that she bills as "a service intended to bring transparency into local, (Toledo and Lucas County), political activities."

This type of effort, in my opinion, is one of the most significant benefits of the Internet, as average citizens can have access to a powerful tool that can keep politicians accountable.

There may perhaps be no greater aid to true democracy than the virtual muscle of the World Wide Web. I wish Kate good fortune in this endeavor.

Thanks Mike. If anybody has any council/board meeting agendas that they can send to me, or information from past meetings - please do.

The TPS Board seems to be a little apprehensive about live broadcasts via the net. They need to realize that they are bound by open meeting laws, public accountability, etc., etc., etc.
Good for Kate!!!! Good for all of Toledo! Good for TPS taxpayers! And, good for TPS students!
Also, appreciation goes out to Chris Myers for his part on this project.

Yes - thanks Chris. I have to say that his conduct makes it very clear what his dedication to the city children is. He works tirelessly. And that's saying something.

My hat is off to Mr. Meyers.

Roland - I'm hopeful. Very hopeful. Wouldn't it be fantastic if the questions that Larry Sykes asked about last week were actually allowed agenda items? If all the other political posturing TALC take up the meeting time with just evaporated?

Mr. Sykes suddenly had an interest in how the students were doing in school! He wanted to look into a possiblity of student retention and if it was possible to make a plan for this!

It seems ridiculous to say that after all of his years on the board these are revelations to him - but at this point - I think we'd all take anything. Any little crumb he'd allow for the kids.

I am hopeful.

Mister Sykes very late "conversion" comes off as the act of a desperate man, IMNHO.

Also as too little, way too late.

Kate and Roland, your check is in the mail ;) . Seriously, I hope that other governments take this cue and do the same thing. It is not that much trouble and yet the benefits are great.
