Al-Manar Website Disappears

Share
Left: Al-Manar logo

(Lebanon) This obviously is a trivial bit of information given the escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, but the al-Manar website produced by Hezbollah has been down for several days. The al-Manar TV site is also out.

I understand the ability of the Israeli military to knock out al-Manar television transmitters, but I would think that al-Manar would have mirror sites set up should damage happen to their web servers.

If anyone is aware of mirror sites or a new web address, feel free to leave it in the comments section.

Incidentally, not all Arabs view the present debacle in the region in the same light.

Incidentally, not all Jews, whether in Israel or the US, share in your vicarious bloodlust.

Among them, Ehud Olmert's daughter.

There's nothing surprising about that Yedioth Aharanoth article you linked to. Just as there have always been House Niggers, House Sand Niggers have been with us for several decades as well.

Certain aptly named Egyptian bloggers aside, the most prominment of these creatures is Fouad Ajami, with Joe Farah (of WorldNetDaily fame) and Walid Phares (MSNBC's "terrorism expert") getting the Golden Kneepad award as well.

In Lebanon itself, just about all the ethnic and religious groups have, at one time or another, been "pro-Israel": the Druze, the Sunni, the Armenians, the Kurds, the Shi'ites. This wouldn't change until the 1982 invasion and the subsequent murder of 18,000 Lebanese civilians.

Israel even had proxy armies and militias in Lebanon fighting for it and doing its dirty work, the most prominent being the South Lebanese Army.

The most consistently and unabashedly pro-Israel group in Lebanon has always been the Maronites. Their "Guardians of the Cedar" militia (which Walid Phares himself is associated with) have carried out numerous massacres of Palestinians and Shi'ites at the behest of massa.

Maronite Phalangist forces were also the ones directly responsible for the Sabra and Shatila massacre. The Israelis provided cover and made sure no one got in or out, but they were the ones who actually got their hands bloody.

The Phalangists (as the name implies) were and are an openly fascist party tracing their origin and lineage directly to Mussolini. But don't worry, they're good fascists, on the side of freedom and democracy. :)

Another interesting one is the perspective presented in newspapers in the Arab world, including lebanese brands such as The Daily Star and L'Orient le Jour, in French...some do not mention the resistance of Hizballah,or at least some seem 'reluctant' to it...
Hizballah seems very meanningful for them...^_^
