Statement dated August 16, 2006 from John Ramsey after being notified of the arrest of John Mark Karr in the strangulation of JonBenet Ramsey in 1996.

From the Associated Press:

I want to have only very limited comment on today's arrest because I feel it is extremely important to not only let the justice system operate to its conclusion in an orderly manner, but also to avoid feeding the type of media speculation that my wife and I were subjected to for so many years.

I do want to say, however, that the investigation of the individual arrested today in connection with JonBenet's death was discussed with Patsy and me by the Boulder district attorney's office prior to Patsy's death in June. So Patsy was aware that authorities were close to making an arrest in the case and had she lived to see this day, would no doubt have been as pleased as I am with today's development almost 10 years after our daughter's murder. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude for the efforts of Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy and the members of her investigative team.

What a shame that her mother never got to see justice served.

It now seems absurd that her parents were ever under suspicion.

Hindsight's a bitch, ain't it.

I'm afraid that this guy, while a pedophile, has nothing to do with the case other than having a sick fascination with it. He seems to have been obsessed with the case but of course instead of doing any real reporting like going and seeing if they guy was even IN Boulder the "news" just regurgitates what everyone else says.

It is amazing now ten years later that the whole world can see that these poor parents of a murdered baby finally have that terrible relentless "guilty" verdict lifted from their good names. I agree that it is a terrible shame that her poor sick mother went to her death bed with undue guilt associated with her name.
Maybe now her poor father and the rest of his family can finally grieve for them both appropriately. Mr. Ramsey, if you read this, God Bless You!!!

This case isn't closed. The things this man is saying do not match what happened. I'll just give you one example.. he says he drugged her. There were no drugs in her body. See MSNBC for more details on the discrepancies.

What happened to this little girl and what her parents went through are unimaginable. The pain that all felt. What fear that little one must have endured and then for the mom and dad to have to explain to the world that they were innocent with alot of people already judging them and forming opinions of their guilt. This invividual who has been arrested, to me, looks doped. Is he just a troubled person looking for attention or is he really the guilty one? Who knows, but lets hope that he is so that closure can come for the dad and the rest of the family. Patsy never saw it in her lifetime and I think that that is a very sad thing.

The murder was an inside job. The police/investigators weren't as stupid as many wish to believe. The "ransom note" was far to ludicrous to be a real ransom note - not to mention that JonBenet was left in the house! Even if the supposed "ransom suspect" decided to kill her there, why wouldn't he have taken the body & still tried to collect the ransom? And what about the oddball amount of the ransom request, $118,000? And isn't it curious that the amount of John Ramsey's recent bonus was just over $118,100? Not to mention that the note was written on paper confirmed to be from the Ramsey house, & with a pen like those found in the house pen jar. And there's the fact that the garrot used to strangle her was made from nylon cord, & a paint brush - the other half of which paint brush was found in Patsy Ramsey's supply container (she was a known painter). There is no evidence of anyone breaking into, or exiting the house the night she was killed. Two or three supposed mysterious footprints found in the basement could have been there before the Ramsey's moved in a few years previous, or could have been left there by any of many workers who worked around the estate. Or, they could have been left there by the shrewd killer, as a deception. The "foreign DNA" suppose to have been found underneath her fingernails & in her underwear only raises more questions about the possibility of a cover-up: such DNA - if it was really found at all - could have come from *millions* of different sources. If the girl had any dirt underneath her fingernails, if others, such as workers had handled her underwear, or if it was newer could have been there all along, etc. It sure is hard to understand how it is that authorities come up with this DNA SEVEN YEARS after JonBenet's death. This was not a sexual assault case anyway, but the Ramsey (or Ramsey's) who killed her was shrewd enough to try & make it look that way. The only realistic question left is which Ramsey killed her. And, is this guy Karr a patsy bought off by Ramsey and/or his ol' boys business associations?

I think it is all crazy!!! I have heard that the family of the (crazy guy) John Karr Is writing a book.

I just think it is so sad. JonBenet a sweet and innocent little girl, didn't even get the chance at life. I think that that Karr guy is sick in the head. And in my opinion, the parents had something to do with her death. I am not saying they did the act, but, I have been watching this since day one. The people need to do there job, and find out who did it. I don't think she can rest in peace until they do.

I am so Annoyed at this whole mess
Quetion is Why in the world would anybody do this to a precious little girl? who had everything to live for what did she do wrong except live out the rest of her mothers dream :( this ponishment that she recieved even if she did mess her pants so what,my son does so does that mean I have to give him the death penalty come on people how could someone from the outside do this it was all inside there all lying and everyone is covering it up it does not take 7yrs for the police to find evidence, who are they fooling I am sickened over this my heart is so torn I have a little girl, and when I look into my daughters eyes I say to my self my GOD how can I ever hurt my sweet baby girl NEVER in a million yrs would I do that to my kids, they are my life. But think about it there are sick parents out there RICH or not could do this to an innocent little beautiful soal. My heart is crushed and now they say they found someone who did it NO WAY there is no evidence his story does not match, and the DNA does not match, he is just a sick individuale who likes little girls. Well now Her mother has passed on and only God,Patsey and poor little Jonbenet knows the truth and if it was her mom God will deal with her. :( I would say more but I am sickend by the whole twisted thing I feel sorry for Jonbenet's brother that this happened to his siter he has to live with this the rest of his life. GOD BLESS YOU BEAUTIFUL JONBENET MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU REST INPEACE BABY GIRL FOR THE TRUTH WILL PREVAIL............................
