Actually, Marx has a lot of good things to say, but in my experience, most Americans call you a socialist if you quote or cite him as an influence.

Agreed that Marx is wholly misunderstood by many Americans, especially those who grew up during the Cold War.

While I remain unconvinced that his utopian vision of the future is ideal, his criticisms of unfettered capitalism were dead on.
