Blizzard, Schmizzard

Share
(Toledo, OH) The Blizzard of 2007 did not seem to bother this Eastern grey squirrel, who climbed the crabapple tree in my backyard to much on frozen fruit.

The wind is really howling at the moment, and we have picked up about two inches of snow so far. The forecasters are still predicting around a foot of snow for my area, with heavier snow expected south of Bowling Green, OH.

So far we have been able to keep up with the snow, and our driveway is clear, but the heaviest snow is supposed to start in an hour or two.

For all those who experienced the Blizzard of '78, this little storm and most others since have been a day at the beach in comparison.

Ah yes - that was REAL blizzard.

Two feet of snow in Detroit, and we were out of school for about four days.

(no global warming jokes, please)

I was stuck on the Toledo Terminal Bridge for 48 hours....Thank god the McDonalds was there back then!
I was the drawbridge operater and the storm tore the screen doors of the bridge house and the propane tanks that supplied what little heating was out there and operated the dreaded (gasp) propane toilet. (If you don't know, don't ask!)

"...propane toilet."

Not knowing conjures up all sorts of crazy/wild imagery ;-)

It also sounds like the punch line of a joke involving fraternity types...
