The identity of the pundit known as Doug Larson, by the way, is a bit of mystery.
A few web pages depicted him as an English athlete who won a gold medal in the 1924 Olympics, but this has been debunked.
The next best possibility is the Doug Larson who is a Wisconsin writer and newspaper columnist.
